AISD Middle and High School Application Programs
Austin ISD has created a new system to make the process easier when applying to Academy and Magnet Programs district-wide.  This system takes away the burden of submitting test scores, grades, etc. as we are able to access this info directly through district systems. If you have a student who is applying to one of these programs for the 2017-2018 school year, be sure to follow the instructions below.
  1. Go to the Parent Cloud: and log in. If you do not yet have an account, you can create one.
  2. Search for and click on “AISD Common Application (Part 1)”.
  3. Choose your student and click on the program(s) they will apply for.
  4. Make note of the remaining pieces of the program’s application process.
  5. When you click "Submit", the following components of the application will automatically be forwarded to the appropriate programs.
    • General Student Demographic Information
    • STAAR scores for 2015-16 in Reading and Math
    • Grades for the 2015-2016 school year and for Fall 2016.
  6. After you click “Submit”, you will see a link for “Teacher Recommendations”. Click on this link to send the recommendation form to your teachers.
  7. Make note of additional requirements for the programs that you are applying to.

Writing Coach Volunteers  Needed
Are you a proficient informational writer? Are you interested in volunteering to support Kealing Academy students? If this is you, we need your help! In order to help our students improve as writers, we are soliciting writing coach volunteers. Students will be focusing on expository writing, which has the primary goal of delivering information about an issue, subject, method, or idea. Volunteer writing coaches will conference one-on-one with students to improve their writing. Each volunteer will be assigned to a classroom, working under the teacher's guidance to support ongoing instruction. Students will bring a piece of writing to the session, and the volunteer will provide feedback and encouragement.

Click here for more information or to sign up to volunteer.

Staff Appreciation Holiday Celebration
As we spend these weeks thinking about what we're thankful for, let's not forget the incredible staff at Kealing Middle School. Please consider donating to the Faculty/Staff Holiday Party, which will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 3pm. We are collecting gift cards in hopes of giving one to each staff member and food donations for the party. Gift card donations can be sent any time to Alyssa Barrera in the Program Office, or to me, Rachael Steyaert (email for address). Food items may be sent to the Kealing office on Wednesday, Dec. 9 or to the library after 2pm. Thank you!
Volunteer Opportunity
A couple of Kealing parents are trying to help out our teachers by volunteering in the workroom. It's basic tasks like copying, laminating, and hole punching. If you are interested in helping out, attached is a sign up sheet. Specifically hoping to get help on Nov 16th, 17th, 18th and 28th. Honestly, even just one person for one hour on each of those days would probably keep us afloat. If anyone is available, even for 30 mins - it would be great if you could help out! The teachers are thrilled to get some help and are very grateful for the service. If you have reached out expressing interest please go ahead and sign on the sign up genius below. Thanks! Feel free to contact Meggan Carcasi with any questions at Sign up below and THANK YOU!!!/showSignUp/508084bafad2ba02-november

Shadowing Volunteer Needed
The KMAG Shadow Committee is looking for a volunteer to set up Sign Up Genius for our parent volunteers' shifts. This should be set up by mid-December. We will have all of the dates/shift times for you. This is an easy task one can do from home. This person, ideally, will monitor it as well during the shadowing period in late January and February in case volunteers are having issues signing up for shifts. Please let us know if this interests you (
