Questions regarding ad sales can be directed to Kristen Scott at kscott@austinisd.org ![]() Seventh grade students are studying citizenship, government and civil discourse in their core Social Studies and English Language Arts classes. On Thursday, October 27th and Friday, October 28th, 7th Pre-AP and Magnet Social Studies students will visit the Bob Bullock Museum's exhibit “The State of Deception: The Power of Nazi Propaganda”. This exhibit is currently on loan from the National Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. and explores the importance of civil discourse and “the tragic consequences of extremist messages.” We will leave Kealing at 9:00 a.m. and return around 11:00 a.m. and will need our chaperones to meet at the school at 8:30 am. Students will attend the field trip on Thursday if they have Social Studies on an A day and Friday if they have Social Studies on a B day. We are looking for some chaperones to accompany us on this trip. Please contact Jenna Martin at jenna.martin@austinisd.org if you are interested in coming along. Information and permission slips are being sent home through Social Studies beginning on Thursday, October 13th. roboARTS-New Club for 6th Grade Students roboARTS is a unique after school program for 6th graders that brings together students who are interested in building and programming robots, with those who are passionate about creative writing, music and performance. The goal of the program is to have robots and students performing side by side, with material written and created by the students themselves. Original scripts, songs, and scenes will be performed and robots will be designed, built, and costumed for the sharing. roboARTS is offered through a partnership between the Paramount Academy for the Arts and Science in a Suitcase. WHAT: roboARTS After School, hosted on campus at Kealing Middle School WHO: Any interested Kealing student in 6th grade who is committed to weekly participation. (About 20 students will be selected after the "come and play" dayWHEN: Monday afternoons from 3pm to 5pm, starting on October 17th with a “come and play” day where all are invited to check it out with no commitment! Kealing Girls Lacrosse ![]() For all Kealing 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls interested in trying something new, come join us for Lacrosse fall practice. No prior experience or equipment is needed! The goal of fall practice is to introduce new players to the sport and refresh the skills of veteran players. Practice will be held at the Kealing fields on Saturday, October 29th, November 5th and November 12th from 9-12. All equipment will be supplied, players just need to come in tennis shoes and athletic clothes appropriate for the weather. In order to participate players must bring a completed liability form with them. A copy of that form as well as more information and a place to sign up to receive informational emails, can be found on the Kealing Lacrosse website at www.bit.ly/kmslacrosse. These reports give an overview of Kealing's current campus conditions and will help inform the district's long-range facility planning as we work to envision the future of Austin ISD. There will be a special presentation focused on how parents can help their middle school children cope with stress. We hope to see you there!Grounds Day Thanks to those of you who came out to support Grounds Day. Kids were involved in tough physical labor, gardening maintenance, butterfly hunting and the physics of a limestone wall. The Monarch Butterfly Garden Project is officially underway!
