CAMPUS NEWS
Be the One Presentation for 7th Grade
The Kealing Guidance Department is making a presentation to all 7th grade students, through advisory, beginning on November 7th thru the 9th. The goal is to instruct them on how they can “Be the One” to help a friend who is struggling with depression or hurting themselves. The presentation goes over the signs of depression and the ways to help friends cope. We will also discuss what to do when friends are hurting themselves and/or are having suicidal thoughts. Counselors will encourage all students to tell an adult if someone expresses thoughts of hurting themselves; this includes telling their parents, especially if they learn of a student’s thoughts outside of the school setting.

Counselors will share the number to a help hotline, the National Suicide Prevention LifeLine, at 1 (800) 273- TALK. or to text CONNECT to 741741 to chat with a crisis counselor. Please feel free to pass this information onto others. If your student communicates to you that one of their friends is having suicidal thoughts. Please either contact their parents or the police, who have mental health officers that can check on them in their home. Other resources can be found under the HELP tab on the Counseling Website: http://kmsguidance.weebly.com/ All it takes is one person to “Be the One” to save another’s life.

PE waivers - 7th and 8th graders
Off Campus Physical Education or PE Waivers for the Spring semester must be submitted to AISD no later than November 15, 2018. Students will need a counselor's signature before they can submit their application. PE Waiver applications WILL NOT be accepted in January.

MacTheatre Presents: A Midsummer Night's Dream, Nov 8-11
Enter the enchanted land of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream when MacTheatre takes you on a magical adventure through a lush forest besieged by starry-eyed love triangles and feuding fairy kingdoms, awash with magic at every turn. A story of order and disorder, reality and appearance, and love and marriage. The play’s four stories are woven together in a single fateful night: the wedding of the Athenian Duke to his Queen, the misadventures of four lovers lost in the enchanted forest, an uproarious throw-down between the King and Queen of the Fairies, and an entertaining quarrel amongst amateur actors in a troupe.

A Midsummer Night's Dream is one of Shakespeare’s happiest and most beloved comedies. It is called a ""Dream"" because of the unrealistic events the characters experience in the play — real, yet unreal, such as crossed lovers, meaningless quarrels, forest chases leading to more confusion, and magic spells woven by the infamous Puck.

The lunatic, the lover, and the poet, are of imagination all compact” but audiences of all ages can enjoy A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a classic celebration of love, innocence, and merry meddling.
