Kealing Broadcast Television is a student developed news program that airs every Tuesday through Advisory. We'll post the news in the Student Life section and in Hornet Herald every week once it's up and running.

Register to be a Kealing Middle School Volunteer
All individuals interested in volunteering at Kealing Middle School must register as a Kealing school-based volunteer and complete a background check through Austin Partners In Education. For more information, contact Dee Gonzales at or 512-414-6700.

Seasonal Giving at Kealing Middle School- Students and Families Helping the Community
Kealing Middle School is hosting a Seasonal Giving Challenge this winter season. Students and families are invited to help support their community by providing toys, books, gift cards, non-perishable food items and/or creating cards of encouragement. 

On November 30th and December 1st, students will have an opportunity to reflect on building a supportive community, bring donated items, and create cards during their advisory classes.

All donated items will be distributed to students and families to create a happier, healthier winter season. Any questions may be forwarded to or 512-841-1180.

8th Grade Tribute Ads - DEADLINE EXTENDED 

Yearbook staff is selling 8th grade tribute ads to be run in the 2018 Kealing Yearbook. What a special way to celebrate your child's middle school experience, while also supporting Kealing's award-winning journalism program. Start your ad today at or go to for more information. KMAG Meeting 
Our next KMAG meeting will be held on Thursday December 7th at 7:30 am in the library in conjunction with the principal's coffee and the PTA meeting. The topic will be identifying anxiety and mental health issues in middle school children. Please join us!

MLK Service Day is Coming!! Please sign up to dine on delicious Domino's & help our school & neighborhood! 
Your appetite & service are requested, at a special event to honor Martin Luther King Jr., create community at Kealing, & serve society! Please join us on Saturday, Jan 13, from noon to 3 pm or later, in the KMS Cafeteria. Signup online here. We'll enjoy thoughtful comments about MLK's vision while dining on Domino's pizza & other goodies, to prime ourselves for a fantastic afternoon of improving the Kealing grounds (via gardening & other activities) & the neighboring streets & parks (through trash pickup). You'll get some great exercise & make an important difference. Your children will earn NJHS credits while making the world a better place!

Austin High Maroon & White Night Showcase
8th Grade Students and Parents:
Plan to attend the highly engaging Maroon and White Showcase Night at Austin High on November 29th! This one-of-a kind event will allow future Maroons to explore all of the College and Career Ready programs that Austin High has to offer.  Tour the Culinary Arts Kitchen, the KAHS Film Studio, or learn more about the exciting opportunities in Project Lead the Way.  Visit with teachers and students about our Academies. The event will begin at 6:30pm in the Austin High Performing Arts Center, with a special performance featuring the many award-winning programs that Austin High has to offer.  Families will then have time to visit with teachers and students representing all aspects of Austin High academics, electives, sports, and clubs. Mark your calendars for this exciting night!
