Considering Off Campus PE for 2018-19?
Here is what you need to know!
Students who will be in the 7th or 8th grade for the 2018-19 school year can apply for an off campus physical education waiver. A waiver means the student is participating in 5 or more hours of physical activity with one of AISD approved agencies. Students with waivers do not take PE during the school day, instead they take a different elective when they would have PE scheduled. The deadline to submit an application for the waiver for the fall semester is May 18th and November 15th for Spring 2019. Please visit the following website for additional information.

Handbags For Hope
In conjunction with the Travis County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Advocacy Project, Kealing will be participating in the 11th Annual Handbags For Hope campaign drive. Please donate your gently used (or new) purses which will be delivered to women shelters across the State of Texas. The Texas Advocacy Project has distributed more than 39,000 bags through Handbags for Hope to women in need since it first launched 11 years ago. Working with the children's programming coordinators at the shelters, they will offer them to the children who will select a handbag to give to their mother on Mother's Day. Women in the shelter who don't have children, will be able to choose a handbag for themselves. Inside each handbag, these women will find hotline numbers for the Texas Advocacy Project allowing them to access their completely free legal services. The campaign will run from February 21, 2018 - April 2, 2018. Let's show the Travis County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Advocacy Project that the Kealing Hornets supports this drive by collecting as many purses as possible to donate.
Help Needed for New Parent Receptions
During the math placement tests for incoming magnet students, KMAG hosts new parents with a reception to help build community and to answer questions for parents.

We need current parents and students (especially 6th graders) who would be willing to come and share their experiences. The reception is informal and covers topics like transportation, backpacks, homework, extracurricular activities, etc.

If you and your child can help with these events, please email Letty Tarin. We need 5 - 9 students per reception.

Reception schedule:
  • Saturday, April 7th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
  • Saturday, April 14th from 9:00 to 11:00 am
  • Saturday, April 14th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm

Kealing's garden needs your cardboard!
Kealing's school garden could use any extra cardboard you might have lying around. Please leave the cardboard outside the garden shed door whenever it is convenient for you to drop it off. The garden is located off of Pennsylvania Avenue, near the tennis courts. We will use the cardboard  to block weeds from growing in the new garden beds we'll be creating this spring. Contact Kate Martin with any questions. Thank you!
