Kealing Middle School students will create dream flags, inspired by the Tibetan prayer/peace flag tradition, to line the hallways of our school. Each student will write their dream or wish for our community and world on a piece of cotton muslin. Their message will be glue to a larger piece of fabric that will be strung and displayed in lines together from our ceiling hallways. The ‘dream flags’ will serve a visual reminder of our individual and collective dreams as a Kealing community.

How can you help?

Donate Materials in the Program Office:

  • Cotton fabric donations, pieces need to be at least 12” by 12”
  • Sequin, button, ribbon embellishments
  • Permanent Markers
  • Fabric glue
Donate Time:
  • Volunteers needed to cut fabric (1-2 hour blocks, can be done at home)
    • January 9th and 10th
  • Volunteers needed to sew fabric (1-2 hour blocks, need a sewing machine)
    • January 11th, 12th, 13th
  • Volunteers needed to help hang flags from ceiling (2 hour blocks, at school)
    • February 15th and 16th
Please contact Jenna Martin at if you have any questions or want information about how to participate

Recognize Your 8th Grader
Yearbook staff is really trying to get the word out about eighth grade tribute ads--a new edition to our publication this year. These ads, very similar to the ads families and friends might place at the end of a playbill, will be printed in Kealing's 2016-17 yearbook, to be cherished forever.

Ads can be placed by parents for their children, or placed by groups of friends who get together to commemorate this special occasion.

Prices start at just $30. The deadline is 1/15. Order today at:

AISD Future
The Facility Condition Assessment and the Educational Suitability Report are now available.  These reports give an overview of Kealing's current campus conditions and will help inform the district's long-range facility planning as we work to envision the future of Austin ISD.
The minutes from the Facilities and Bond Planning Advisory Committee (FABPAC) Meeting meetings can be found here.  They include the recommendations presented by the consultants.  AISD is working diligently to make informed recommendations that will inform the next 20+ of improvement in the district.  Stay tuned for more info!

Environmental Committee Green Tip
The KMS PTA Environmental Committee will be giving you a Green Tip each week in the HH from now until the end of the school year. This week's tip comes from a blurb that can be found in your Austin Energy bill. Did you know there is a Shop Zero Waste movement in Austin to keep products out of landfills? Shadowing Volunteer Needed
The KMAG Shadow Committee is looking for a volunteer to set up Sign Up Genius for our parent volunteers' shifts. This should be set up by mid-December. We will have all of the dates/shift times for you. This is an easy task one can do from home. This person, ideally, will monitor it as well during the shadowing period in late January and February in case volunteers are having issues signing up for shifts. Please let us know if this interests you (
