Ultimate Frisbee Informational Meeting
Attention all students interested in participating in the Kealing Ultimate Frisbee Program this spring! We'll be holding an informational meeting for Kealing Ultimate on Thursday, February 7th. The meeting will be at 3:00-3:30pm in the Kealing Library. All students are welcome: girls and boys, all grades, all programs. Talk to Coach Kepneror Coach Crouch  if you have questions!

Model UN
There will be an informative Model UN meeting at 3pm on Thursday, Feb 7 in Mr. Shoaf's room (516).  Any student that is interested in participating in the middle school Model UN conference held on UT's campus during the school day on Thursday March 14 should attend.  Please email Mr. Shoaf or Mr. Hendrex with any questions.
Invictus: Kealing ELA Students
All Kealing 8th graders will be performing Invictus by William Ernest Henley at Kealing Middle School.  Starting this Monday, January 28th, students can be "caught" from 7:25 am until 2:50 pm until Friday, February 1st and will be asked to recite this poem-in the cafeteria, the hallway, in classes other than English, in the stairwell from the top of the stairs to the bottom.

Our goal is to have all students embrace a love of poetry and for teachers and administration to join them in this effort.  If you would like to learn the poem yourself, a copy is just below.  Once a student recites the poem, he/she will receive a string around her/his wrist to indicate completion.  As a side note,  the last stanza of Invictus resides on a courtyard wall at Kealing.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
      For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

Parent Feedback Requested
Kealing Middle School receives federal Title I funds to support some campus programs and initiatives.  Professional development is one area that we address with these funds and we would like to hear from you about areas in which we can grow as teachers and staff members.  Please click this link to respond to one question to give feedback on future professional development. The survey takes less than 3 minutes and will help support the growth of our staff!

Boys' Lacrosse wants YOU to play!
Kealing Boys' Lacrosse is looking for 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys interested in trying a new sport, or continuing their growth of already existing Lacrosse skills. The Kealing program is a new one on the Austin Lacrosse scene, and we would love new players to come give it a try so we can turn the Kealing program into a competitive Austin team. We need 14 players in order to qualify for games, so if you are interested in joining us this Spring, please fill out this form giving us more information. Practice will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00pm-5:00pm at Kealing, starting Wednesday, Jan 23rd. Should we get 14 players, games will start at the beginning of March and take place on the weekends. For more information about the program, please visit our Lacrosse website at Questions? Email teacher sponsor Kelly Morledge.

So we promise if we get to 650 members, we will stop asking.
