SECRET PAL Thank Yous!
Thank you to all of you in the Kealing community who are participating in the PTA Secret Pals Program. A few of our beloved teachers wanted to say thank you:

I just want to say thank you so much for taking care of us! The Kealing PTA brings tremendous value to the school community, and the secret pals program in particular makes us teachers feel very special. Somehow the deliveries always seem to come right when we need them the most. :). WE APPRECIATE YOU!

Dear Secret Pal, you all are the best!!! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for my wonderful gifts and my nutcracker will have a "special place" this year in my home. Wishing you and your family a Safe and Happy Holiday!

Please tell my adopted family that I LOVE the multi-tool and bike repair kit! I love it when I get presents that I can use! Thanks so much.

Hello! Please pass on my enthused thank-yous to my Secret Pals for their generous gifts! It really lifts the spirits this time of year.

Thank you very much for the thoughtful gift of treats that you recently delivered for me. All of my favorite snacks were in there, and two varieties of each one! My family and I all like Taco Cabana, and we will be enjoying some of their food this weekend. Thank you again for your thoughtfulness.

Food Drive!
The Food for Thought elective is collecting non-perishable food items for the Central Texas Food Bank starting Monday, December 3, until Thursday, December 20. Over 17% of Travis County residents face food insecurity on a daily basis. The Central Texas Food Bank helps those residents make sure they have enough to eat. Please consider donating canned goods, pasta, beans, rice, apple sauce, trail mix, and dried fruit. Students may drop items off in room 515. Thank you!

Don't miss out on this wonderful way to celebrate your child's commencement from middle school. You could even consider a "best friend" tribute ad, to celebrate their treasured friendships. Ads start at $30.

Writing Tutor Volunteers Need for Academy ELA Classes
We are seeking parent volunteers to assist in English Language Arts classes in the Academy Program during the Spring Semester. These volunteers would focus on supporting students' writing through one-on-one conferences with students. Past volunteers have assisted students at all points in the writing process - brainstorming, drafting, and editing. This support is especially important in helping our 7th Grade students prepare for the STAAR Writing Exam.

If you are interested in volunteering in this way, please complete this form, and we will contact you as we prepare for the Spring Semester.  Thank you!!

MLK Day of Service - January 19
MLK Day of Service will be January 19.  We are planning a great day of events along with the District.  Our MLK Day of Service has turned into a AISD district wide celebration.   Buses will be bringing families to Kealing from other east side schools.  They will be lots of speakers and activities as well as clean up at the school and the surrounding neighborhood.   We are hoping to plant six  shade trees for the back of the school  We are dreaming of a row of oaks along the back parking lot and then maybe a ring of crepe myrtles up by the school.  In addition, we are considering re decorating the staff bathrooms.  If you are adult and we would love to have your help on the day Please click on this sign up genius.  We would love to have you.  We really need an interior decorator, hole diggers, tree wranglers , registration/people directors, and kid wranglers.  We will have signups for your children at a later date.

January 10th - 7:30 AM Library General Meeting Presentation from the Attorney General’s Office on Human Trafficking
Human trafficking is a media buzz word that often conjures images of foreign countries or confusion with the ongoing immigration debate. This workshop cuts through the confusion, arms the participant with an understanding of what human trafficking is and is not and helps them recognize that this is an American problem with American buyers, sellers and victims. It focuses our attention on children who are regularly exploited but are unlikely to self-identify as victims or seek help. This seminar walks participants through actual cases prosecuted in the state of Texas for illustration, identifies the tools of traffickers and how they are typically utilized to obtain and maintain victims, outlines victim needs and the barriers to identification and rehabilitation, and gives participants red flags and interview tips that they can use to begin the identification process.
