Austin ISD Facility Master Planning Meetings This Week

posted Mar 4, 2019, 10:33 AM by Kenisha Coburn
Facility Master Planning Meetings are coming this week! Stop by if you would like to have an opportunity to give feedback on the critical decisions that are coming up for our district. Read below for more information.
  • Wed, March 6 from 6-7:30 p.m. at LBJ ECHS, Cafeteria
  • Thurs, March 7 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Crockett ECHS, Cafeteria
  • Sat, March 9 from 1-2:30 p.m. at Austin HS, Cafeteria
This year, AISD is working to update our district’s Facility Master Plan (FMP) to support and strengthen district-wide priorities in the areas of:
  • Athletics and Fitness;
  • Career and Technical Education, including a range of pathways for students to explore industry opportunities; and,
  • Fine Arts, including the Visual and Performing Arts, as well as Creative Learning.
The process of developing master plans for these 3 areas is primarily funded by the 2017 Bond program. Future bond programs or other financing would likely be necessary to make major improvements or additions to AISD facilities. We are gathering the insights and perspectives of academic departments, as well as school and community stakeholders—including our Austin ISD community, our students, teachers and AISD staff, families and partners.

Concurrently, work is being conducted to review the way the district calculates a school’s permanent capacity, and a strategy is being developed to reduce the district’s reliance on portable buildings for educational purposes.

To learn more about these processes visit the FMP 2019 webpage.

Your insight and perspectives are critical to this process. We look forward to receiving your input as we shape the future of AISD to ensure we fulfill the promise of a high-quality public education in Austin for all students.

If you have already received this information in other ways, I apologize for the duplication. Thank you again for your participation!
