KBTV NEWS
Kealing Broadcast Television is a student developed news program that airs every Tuesday through Advisory.  This year's news team is learning the tricks of the trade and will be broadcasting in about four weeks. We'll post the news in the Student Life section and in Hornet Herald every week once it's up and running.

Register to be a Kealing Middle School Volunteer
All individuals interested in volunteering at Kealing Middle School must register as a Kealing school-based volunteer and complete a background check through Austin Partners In Education.  For more information, contact Dee Gonzales at dee.gonzales@austinisd.org or 512-414-6700.

The McCallum Choir presents it's annual Cabaret show Nov. 9-12th.  This year's theme is A Star is Born. Thursday-Friday shows are at 7pm and 2pm on Sunday. https://macchoirs.eventbrite.com/

Seasonal Giving at Kealing Middle School- Students Helping the Community- 11/30 & 12/1
Kealing Middle School will be hosting a Seasonal Giving challenge the last week of November during Advisory classes. Students will be invited to help support their community by providing food items, toys, new clothes, or creating cards of encouragement. All donated items will be distributed to students and families to create a happier, healthier winter season.

Writing Coach Volunteer Opportunity
Are you a proficient informational writer?  Are you interested in volunteering to support Kealing students?  We need your help!  In order to help our students improve as writers, we are soliciting writing coach volunteers.  Students will be focusing on expository writing, which has the primary goal of delivering information about an issue, subject, method, or idea.Volunteer writing coaches will conference one-on-one with students to improve their writing skills. 

Volunteers should be available for one class block of coaching at least one day per week.  There will be training opportunities in October, November and December to help prepare the volunteers.  Complete this form if you are interested in helping to support our students.  Please forward this to anyone who you think might be interested in this opportunity!

Join the Green Team!
All students are invited to join the Kealing Green Team! We meet in Ms. Martin's room on Thursdays after school. Students propose and execute sustainability projects to help make Kealing more environmentally friendly and hopefully win an Eco-Schools award from the National Wildlife Federation.  Questions? KMAG ANNOUNCEMENTS
KMAG Volunteer Opportunities 
Our next KMAG meeting will be held on November 9th at 7:30am in the library. We will be discussing high school options. We are still looking for parent representatives from Austin High and the Anderson IB program to attend. We currently have representatives from McCallum, Bowie, and LASA. Please let us know if you would be willing to help us out. These are the 5 high schools that the majority of our students attend, and we would love to have them all represented.

We are also looking for parent volunteers for the new student incubator project. We will need judges and coordinators. Please contact Steve Rosen at  if you are interested in helping!

Due November 3rd in Programs Office Reach Your Creative Potential with the PTA REFLECTIONS. Create an original artistic piece that reflects on this year’s theme: “Within Reach”. AISD BOND INFORMATION SESSIONS 
Austin ISD trustees in June called for a Nov. 7 election for a $1.05 billion bond proposal. Austin ISD is hosting a series of informational open houses to learn more about the 2017 Bond and how it could affect each campus.
