Seventh grade students are studying citizenship, government and civil discourse in their core Social Studies and English Language Arts classes. On Thursday, October 27th and Friday, October 28th, 7th Pre-AP and Magnet Social Studies students will visit the Bob Bullock Museum's exhibit “The State of Deception: The Power of Nazi Propaganda”. This exhibit is currently on loan from the National Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. and explores the importance of civil discourse and “the tragic consequences of extremist messages.”

We will leave Kealing at 9:00 a.m. and return around 11:00 a.m. and will need our chaperones to meet at the school at 8:30 am. Students will attend the field trip on Thursday if they have Social Studies on an A day and Friday if they have Social Studies on a B day.

We are looking for some chaperones to accompany us on this trip. Please contact Jenna Martin at jenna.martin@austinisd.org if you are interested in coming along. Information and permission slips are being sent home through Social Studies beginning on Thursday, October 13th.

The goal of the program is to have robots and students performing side by side, with material written and created by the students themselves. Original scripts, songs, and scenes will be performed and robots will be designed, built, and costumed for the sharing. roboARTS is offered through a partnership between the Paramount Academy for the Arts and Science in a Suitcase.

For all Kealing 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls interested in trying something new, come join us for Lacrosse fall practice. No prior experience or equipment is needed! The goal of fall practice is to introduce new players to the sport and refresh the skills of veteran players. Practice will be held at the Kealing fields on Saturday, October 29th, November 5th and November 12th from 9-12. All equipment will be supplied, players just need to come in tennis shoes and athletic clothes appropriate for the weather. In order to participate players must bring a completed liability form with them. A copy of that form as well as more information and a place to sign up to receive informational emails, can be found on the Kealing Lacrosse website at www.bit.ly/kmslacrosse. Contact Kelly Morledge at kelly.morledge@austinisd.org with any questions.

AISD Future
The Facility Condition Assessment and the Educational Suitability Report are now available.  These reports give an overview of Kealing's current campus conditions and will help inform the district's long-range facility planning as we work to envision the future of Austin ISD.   We will keep you updated as the District moves forward with this process.
