Are you a proficient informational writer? Are you interested in volunteering to support Kealing Academy students? If this is you, we need your help! In order to help our students improve as writers, we are soliciting writing coach volunteers. Students will be focusing on expository writing, which has the primary goal of delivering information about an issue, subject, method, or idea. Volunteer writing coaches will conference one-on-one with students to improve their writing. Each volunteer will be assigned to a classroom, working under the teacher's guidance to support ongoing instruction. Students will bring a piece of writing to the session, and the volunteer will provide feedback and encouragement.

Click here for more information or to sign up to volunteer.

Please mark your calendars for Kealing’s Annual Thanksgiving Community Celebration on Saturday, November 12th from 11:30am-2pm. Bring your entire family and join residents from the community for a delicious Thanksgiving meal in the Kealing Cafeteria. We have three important volunteer needs for this big event. (Note that this is also a great community service opportunity for your middle school and high school kids):
  1. Sign up to help with a one-hour shift at the event on the 12th. We need around 45 volunteers to help serve the food and greet our neighbors. Can you volunteer to help? Sign up here.
  2. Bring a Thanksgiving dessert of your choice. You can deliver your dessert to the Kealing program office on Friday anytime between 7:15am and 3pm, or bring it to the event on Saturday the 12th.
  3. Help us with our grocery list for the meal. Bring your items to Kealing program office by Wednesday, November 9th. To sign up to bring a dessert or help out with our grocery list, click here.
Robotics Club Meeting
Mondays from 3:00 pm to 4 pm in Ms. Johnson’s Room 120. Each week the students will design a robot to accomplish tasks such as getting through a maze, making art, dancing, etc. The goal is to simply have fun and learn robotics and programming along the way. No previous computer coding experience is required, and the club provides robots and
computers.

AISD Future
The Facility Condition Assessment and the Educational Suitability Report are now available.  These reports give an overview of Kealing's current campus conditions and will help inform the district's long-range facility planning as we work to envision the future of Austin ISD.   We will keep you updated as the District moves forward with this process.

Volunteer Opportunity
Hi all!!
How would you like to help our amazingly awesome Kealing teachers make more time to be amazingly awesome???? We are trying to initiate a group of parents who are interested in donating some time each week to help out by making copies for the teachers/staff. It's a simple job but it goes a long way to freeing up the teachers' time for things like.....teaching!!! Just sitting in front of the school waiting for your child to finish an after school club? Come inside and make some copies! Stopping by for the KMAG or PTA meeting? Why not hang around and make some copies! Even if it's just a scheduled one hour/week or impromptu ...it will go a long way to help out. We are creating a simple system so even if you just pop into the school you will easily know what and how many copies to make! This is a real on the ground way to help our teachers and staff lighten their loads! If you have any interest, please contact Meggan Carcasi at mdowell22@yahoo.com or Emily Long at eel102801@yahoo.com. Give us a rough idea of what day/times you might be available.
