Hornet Herald - April 9, 2017

Good Afternoon Kealing Community,

We have more recognition this week! Our choir the Fine Arts UIL season with all 1s for the Varsity Mixed Choir and Varsity Girls Choir. Strong work, Ms. Parks and choir students. Ms. Scott and Ms. Waggoner traveled to the National Scholastic Press Association Conference last week. The Inkblot placed 4th in Best of Show for HIGH SCHOOL literary magazines. The Kealing Vespa Yearbook brought home the Pacemaker Award for national achievement in a high school competition. We're proud of the work the students do to put out these high-quality publications.

Thanks to all of you who came out to Spider House Ballroom Saturday to support Kealing Center Stage. The Spiral Notebooks (Mr. Webster, Mr. Jackson, Ms. Henderson, Mr. Eissler, and Mr. Barton) kept us all entertained and dancing throughout the evening. A number of silent and live auction items were sold and we look forward to the improvements that this PTA support will bring in the future. Kudos to Arthur D'Andrea and the rest of the PTA Fundraising Committee for their work in planning such a successful event!

We have an opportunity and we need your help. Kealing is in the running for a $20,000 grant that will allow us to make some needed changes to the neighborhood park that is adjacent to Kealing. Help us by texting Kealing to 35350 or going online to vote at www.meetmeatthepark.org. You can vote every day during the month of April from every cell phone and email address that you have access to. Share with friends and family too!

We have a short week this week so don't forget to keep your students home on Friday, April 14.

Regards,
Kenisha Coburn
